Variety Shows: The End?

Several Spanish-speaking (and English) viewers were drawn to television every Saturday to watch Sabado Gigante on Univision. After more than sixty-years, the show will go off the air this fall. Despite being forced to watch this show (as it became a routine for many), I appreciate Sabado Gigante for touching on important social themes: immigration, family reunions, social issues in Latin America, etc. I am beginning to theorize that the network will move towards adopting a more US-based lineup on Saturdays.
