brings to light the few narrative differences between high budget quality drama and the soap opera serialization that it so strongly draws from. I even got two questions wrong, as a Mad Men super fan!
I recently went home and tried to talk to relatives about all my favorite dramas. "I tried to watch that," my sister-in-law said, "but it was too soap opera-y for me." I replied, "Well, you have to watch it from the beginning!" Then I wondered, why? Isn't that what people say about their favorite soap operas? Maybe the only difference between great dramas and soap operas is the lighting.
