Big Brother Snoops on Your Conversations

Careful what you yell at the television set! Samsung recently released a consumer related statement warning owners of Samsung SmartTV that activating the voice command feature will record speech to maximize the content experience. Furthermore, recorded voice data will be provided to third parties. What is this snooping society is being exposed to? Can we expect the government to eavesdrop on our personal lives and use all private content against one? The prospects of having smart television that caters to our commands is not new, but this reality is now here, and it is a terrifying one causing concern. Like many of our technological gadgets vulnerable to hacking and personal information theft, television will head in that direction as the apparatus is further developed and made complex. Big Brother is listening as we watch.
